What is literature for?

Yesterday in class we watched this video created by Marcus Armitage and Ignatz Johnson Higham for The School of LifeThe video explains why we read books and the benefits of this activity
"Why should we spend our time reading novels and poems when, out there, big things are going on? We tend to treat literature as a distraction, an entertainment (something for the beach). But it’s far more than that, literature deserves its prestige for one reason above all others: because it’s a tool to help us live and die with a little more wisdom, goodness and sanity."

Google Drive

Google Drive is a cloud storage service. You can store your documents, photos, music, videos, etc. all in one place. It syncs with your mobile devices and your computer. The benefits are that you can collaborate together on projects, you can store work created on your devices on your Drive and you can share your files with your teacher.
Since you have been using Google Drive for writing your task on the video Choice I thought you might find useful the following tutorial in Italian created by Jessica Redeghieri. Watch the Google Drive tutorial.

Choice

The first actitivity this year was taken from the excellent webpage Film English by Kieran Donaghy. This lesson is designed around a beautiful short film and poem, Choice, by Gnarly Bay. Following Kieran’s lesson instructions students do a dictation, visualise, watch a short film, speak about choices, and write a narrative for homework.

Watch the film on Vimeo.
Here you have the text of the poem.
@students: post your narrative in commento.
